SpsDev.Com is here to provide you with the tools, utilities and knowledge to get the most out of Microsoft SharePoint Technologies. Below is a brief description of our product gallery - all of them are available for you to test FREE so please give them a try from our Trial Versions Download page.
SpsDev.Com has a great new product just released to help you consolidate the data spread around your sites. The PowerJAX Web Part combines the power of SharePoint with the cool features of AJAX and Web 2.0. It allows you to rollup content from lists across your SharePoint farm into a single consolidated view in your SharePoint site. The data is retrieved using AJAX so you don't have to bog your server down with slow running web parts that have to wait to retrieve all of the list information before showing the page. Instead users see the page right away and then the data is retrieved asynchronously from their browser.
The PowerJAX Web Part has a number of features designed to give you complete control over the data that's returned. You can retrieve data from lists in the same site, the same site collection, a site in a different site collection, or even a site in a different web application. Any data anywhere in your entire SharePoint farm can be retrieved with PowerJAX. We include an easy to use property page to find all of the lists in different sites, retrieve the fields for any list, and pick and choose which fields to display in the web part. Even our property page is built on AJAX! It's all been designed from the ground up to minimize disruptive post backs and the irritating screen flashing and refreshing that goes along with it. Here is an example of one of the many different different views of data you can create with the PowerJAX Web Part:
We include a simple one-click verification process to ensure that all of the fields that have been selected are included in all of the lists you're getting data from. As you add fields you can choose whether you want to include summary information for that field, such as a count of items, or the average or sum of that field's value. We also allow you to apply filters and sorting based on the fields you are retrieving. For example, only return data where the company name equals "Contoso", or where Fiscal Year is greater than 2006, etc. If our filters are not sophisticated enough for your requirements, we even let you type in a custom query that conforms to the SPQuery specification for SharePoint. That gives you the complete flexibility to control what data is shown in the web part.
The picture on the left shows what the property page looks like for selecting fields and applying filters; the picture on the right shows the property page where you select fields, create filters, and choose your sorting option.
PowerJAX also has a number of properties to control how data is displayed on the page. For example, you can choose to whether to use a custom style sheet, so you can control the look and feel of the data that's displayed. You can choose whether or not to show subtotals for each list, like a count, sum or average of a field. You can choose to show ONLY the list totals. You can control how many rows of data are returned, whether to show grand totals, whether to format the data, and more. You can now download the PowerJAX Web Part here. Check it out - we think you're going to love it!
Now available from SpsDev.Com, as many of you have been asking for since the 2003 version of SharePoint Products and Technologies, a custom field type that does filtering! We've also listened to your feedback from the first release of this product and have responded with your top requests - first there was support for using SharePoint lists as a data source for the Filter Field, and now we've added the ability to for a Filter Field to have multiple child Filter Fields instead of the 1-to-1 relationship restriction that existed in previous versions. You can add one to many filter fields to your list or library, and each one can be filtered based on another filtered field in the list. Pick a state in one field, and the list of cities in the next field is filtered to only show items from that state, for example. With version 1.2 we support SharePoints lists , SQL Server 2000 and 2005, as well as Xml as the source for the field data. Here's an example of a list with several Filter Fields included in a single item:
As you change a selection in any of the drop downs, all of the drop downs below it are each filtered to show only the appropriate choices based on the selection that's been made. We're pretty excited about this and hope you will be too! This is available for trial use and purchase now, so get your copy and start showing off some of the new power and flexibility in SharePoint 2007 to your users today! Existing owners of the original Filter Field product can use the new version for free - just download it here and use your same license key. Follow the instructions on our site or in the UsageNotes.rtf file that is installed with the product for details on how to upgrade to the new version and still preserve all of your existing Filter Field columns. NOTE: Filter Field requires that you have installed the Infrastructure Update in your farm. See the Filter Help page for more details.
Bulk Upload was one of the premier tools for SharePoint Products and Technologies 2003 to upload files and set metadata. That version of the tool doesn't work with SharePoint 2007, so we have upgraded the tool and added some of the features you all have been asking for with our original best seller. It's all been wrapped up in a new release called Bulk Upload 2007. Here are some of the new feature highlights:
Bulk Upload 2007 is available for purchase today! You can download the trial version here, so please give it a try and see how you like it.
We are happy to announce the general availability of the ULS Log Reader for SharePoint 2007. SpsDev.Com has not only released it, but we've decided to make it a FREE download from our site. Please use the tool and hopefully it will make the day-to-day operations of your sites just a little bit easier.
Filter Field is a custom field type that does filtering! You can add one to many filter fields to your list or library, and each one can be filtered based on another filtered field in the list. Pick a state in one field, and the list of cities in the next field is filtered to only show items from that state, for example. We support using SharePoint lists, SQL Server 2000 and 2005, as well as Xml as the source for the field data.
One of the really neat features about Filter Field is that it also acts as a simple field control for displaying data from your back end data stores. No need to try and figure out the awfully complicated Business Data Catalog (BDC) and their application definition manifest files. Also, if you have only Windows SharePoint Services you don't even have a BDC option - now you do, and the cost is going to be way under what it would take to upgrade to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. Just point Filter Field at your SQL or Xml data source and it will render your data in a field in a list or library. You can sort it, filter on it, index it and search on it - everything you need is included!

The Import / Export Tool has a simple application interface to make it easy for you to select what items to export, and what options to use as part of that export. You start by entering the Url to the site that contains the data from which you wish to perform the export. Our Import / Export tool will quickly interrogate the site to find all of the lists and libraries within that site, along with all of the folders and items in each one as well. With a simple point and click interface, you select which of these items, or hierarchy of items that should be exported.
Importing data with the Import / Export Tool is just as easy as exporting. Just tell us the name of the file that contains the exported information. We'll crack it open and explore the contents so we know what's in it. If the file contains list items or documents, you can optionally choose for each one the destination list or library into which they should be imported. Once you've configured any import mappings just click the Import button and your data will be imported into the site you specify.
Bulk Upload 2007 is a new tool exclusively for SharePoint 2007 that allows you to copy files to SharePoint and set metadata on items in libraries. It allows you to do all sorts of document management, including:
The ULS Log Reader tool has a complete list of all of your ULS log files. You can open any one of them and immediately begin sorting, filtering and searching through the data to catch important events or track down errors. It's also a low impact tool, which means it's small, it's fast, and you can install it on your desktop, on your SharePoint servers, or as many locations as you like. And perhaps best of all, it's free! Install on all the servers in your organization at no cost.
The ULS Log Reader is an easy and lightweight tool that can be quickly installed on any of your SharePoint servers to make managing them that much easier.
You can download the full release version of ULS Log Reader here. Please make sure you try it out and send us your feedback!
